Personnel Announcement
President George W. Bush today announced his intention to name Kenneth Rapuano to be Deputy Assistant to the President for Homeland Security. Mr. Rapuano currently serves as Deputy Under Secretary of Energy for Counterterrorism, where he oversees nuclear counterterrorism activities and coordinates policy for the National Nuclear Security Administration. He previously served as Senior Policy Advisor for National Security at the Department of Energy focusing on nonproliferation, intelligence, counterintelligence, homeland defense, and stockpile stewardship. Earlier in his career, Mr. Rapuano was a Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Policy. He served on active duty as an infantry officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, and currently serves as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. In 2003, he deployed to Iraq for six months in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Mr. Rapuano earned a bachelor's degree from Middlebury College and a master's degree from Georgetown University. # # #
