Statement on S. 167, the Family Entertainment and Copyright Act of 2005
STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY
On Wednesday, April 27 2005, the President signed into law:
S. 167, the "Family Entertainment and Copyright Act of 2005," which
criminalizes the use of recording equipment to make copies of movies in
movie theaters and the unauthorized release of certain material being
prepared for commercial distribution; authorizes the use of technology
that allows viewers to skip portions of a movie viewed at home; and
contains miscellaneous provisions related to film preservation.
