I send my warmest greeting to all those celebrating World Science Day for Peace and Development.

Science has the power to solve our toughest challenges, help us build a better future, and make the impossible possible. From developing life-saving vaccines to putting a rover on Mars and launching a deep-sea telescope, scientists across our Nation and around the world have delivered extraordinary breakthroughs for our health, climate, and society while also creating new jobs and industries.

I have often said that American can be defined in one word: possibilities. That is why my Administration is committed to making equity in science – and science for equity – a priority. We are giving scientists a seat at the decision-making table, making the Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy a Cabinet-level position for the first time in history. We established the Scientific Integrity Task Force to protect our scientists from political interference so that they can think, research, and speak freely to me and the American people. And we passed the CHIPS and Science Act to invest more federal funding in research and development, ensuring that new technology is invented and built by America’s diverse workforce.

Today, we celebrate all that science does to improve our lives and meet our most pressing challenges along with all the scientists who make this possible. May we all continue to support and mobilize scientific discovery to advance our highest aspirations for a safe, equitable, and flourishing world.
